According to 2020 results, DAF continues to be the leader in the European truck market in terms of sales. In 2020, DAF sold 37,580 heavy trucks in Europe, bringing the total number of DAF trucks on the continent to 230,400. This marks DAF's second consecutive year as the largest market player in Europe’s heavy truck segment, with a record market share of 16.3% (up from 16.2% in 2019). Additionally, DAF sold 41,400 medium-duty trucks, achieving a 9.5% market share in this segment.
DAF has maintained its leadership position in the heavy truck market in countries such as the Netherlands (31.8%), the United Kingdom (31.6%), Poland (23.7%), Hungary (27.9%), and Bulgaria (25.4%). The Dutch company has also become the leading brand for imports in Europe’s two largest markets: Germany and France.
“Our forecast indicates that the European truck market will continue to grow in 2021, with volumes expected to reach between 250,000 and 280,000 trucks in the near future.
